When working in the mental health sector, having a sound knowledge of how to effectively communicate with individuals who have suffered traumatic experiences is critical. Trauma can infiltrate into multiple aspects of people’s everyday life, and can bring with it mental, physical, social and spiritual implications. The effects it has are not uniform, but are instead shaped by personal experience and interpretation, as a result it can be challenging to navigate.
Our course Trauma Informed Practice Level 1 provides a helpful introduction to those likely to encounter trauma within their field of work. This course conforms to the Scottish Transforming Psychological Trauma Framework. It helps to forge an increased understanding of the effects of trauma by addressing different types, consequences and reactions to trauma. The course also looks at the importance of producing greater understandings of how to navigate trauma within society in order to promote better mental wellbeing more generally.
